Tax isn't hard because you're not smart enough. It's hard because nobody designed it for you.
Deadlines you didn't know existed
Provisional tax in February. ITR12 by November. Wait, that's not right. Or is it? The SARS calendar isn't designed for humans.
Forms that read like legal contracts
What's an IRP6? Why does SARS need to know about your retirement annuity? Where do crypto gains go? The instructions assume you already know.
The accountant who's busy until April
Then suddenly you owe them R3,500 for forty minutes of work you could've done yourself — if anyone had explained how.
Auto-assessments that aren't actually right
SARS estimated your tax. Now you have to figure out if their estimate is correct, too low, or quietly wrong in their favour.
Capture deductions through WhatsApp. File a clean return when it counts.

Snap it, say it, or type it.
Photograph a receipt, send a voice note ("drove 30km to a client, R280 on lunch"), or just type your mileage. TaxKit reads it, categorises it, and tells you what's deductible — in seconds. Fix a category once and it remembers that vendor forever.
Catch what you didn't photograph.
Upload your bank statement (CSV or Excel from FNB, Capitec, Standard Bank, ABSA, Nedbank, Bank Zero). TaxKit categorises every transaction, matches them to receipts you've already snapped so nothing's counted twice, and surfaces the deductions you'd otherwise miss.
Yes — if you work from home exclusively and regularly, and earn mainly from non-employment income.
You can claim a portion of rent, electricity, and rates based on the m² you use.
What SARS actually means.
Confused about a deduction or a form field? Ask TaxKit on WhatsApp like you'd ask a friend. Clear, South-Africa-specific answers — no jargon, no forum threads, no R800 accountant call for a one-line question.
Hand over a clean tax pack.
When tax season comes, your year is already captured and categorised. Export a branded PDF plus CSVs of your receipts, mileage and bank deductions — or send the whole pack to your accountant in one tap.
If SARS knows your name — TaxKit is for you.
You invoice in your own name.
Provisional tax twice a year. Expenses to track. Maybe a turnover tax option if you qualify. TaxKit keeps it sorted so you can keep doing the work that actually pays.
Job + something on the side.
That tutoring gig, Etsy shop, weekend consulting, rental income — it's all taxable, and your employer's PAYE doesn't cover it. We help you stay on the right side of SARS without overpaying.
You run a (Pty) Ltd or CC.
Company returns, VAT registration, dividend tax, B-BBEE basics. The admin you'd rather not learn but can't ignore. TaxKit gives you the clarity to talk to your accountant — or do it yourself.
Start capturing in 30 seconds.
No app to install, no password to remember. Message TaxKit on WhatsApp and your first receipt is logged before you've put your phone down. Capture is free, forever — pay R300/year only when you're ready to export for your accountant.

Why WhatsApp and not an app?
Because you already have WhatsApp open. No download, no signup friction, no data-hungry app draining your battery. Capture happens in the moment — when the receipt is in your hand, when you've just driven somewhere. The web dashboard handles the heavier work: reviewing the year, filing the return, seeing the full picture.
What can I actually do on WhatsApp?
Send a receipt photo and it's logged + categorized in seconds. Tell us about a business trip ('drove 47km to client') and it's added to your mileage log. Ask any tax question and get a plain-English answer. Check your year-to-date deductions. We're starting with capture and Q&A on WhatsApp — filing happens on the web where the UX is better suited.
Is TaxKit live yet?
Yes — TaxKit is live for the 2026/27 tax season. Message us on WhatsApp and you can start capturing receipts and mileage right away, free.
Is this a replacement for an accountant?
For many freelancers and side-hustlers — yes. For most small businesses, TaxKit makes you a better partner to your accountant, not a replacement. You'll know what to ask, what to bring, and what's reasonable.
How is this different from TaxTim or e-Filing directly?
e-Filing is the system. TaxTim helps you complete it once a year. TaxKit is the year-round companion: it captures your deductions as you go (via WhatsApp), answers questions whenever they come up, and only then helps you file a clean, complete return.
How much does it cost?
Capturing receipts and mileage on WhatsApp is free, forever. TaxKit Pro — full history, bank-statement imports, and accountant-ready exports — is R300/year if you subscribe before 28 February 2027 (a founding rate locked in for life), then R699/year after that.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We're building TaxKit with POPIA compliance from day one. Your data stays in South Africa, you control what you share, and we never sell anything to third parties. WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted in transit, and we only store what's needed for your tax records.
Will it integrate with SARS eFiling?
Where it's safe and useful, yes. SARS doesn't currently offer a public API, so we work within those constraints. Expect smart imports, calendar sync, and document storage at minimum.
